Dentistry....fine dentistry....has come a long way from the restoration of broken-down teeth alone.  Now we see the mouth as a component of the body. Now we see our role as physicians of the body with a concentration on the mouth.  We foster greater full body wellness as opposed to just managing dental symptoms.  However, the road from restorative dentist and esthetic orthodontist to comprehensive dentist now involves consideration of how the airway affects development and the etiology of disease.

This course is designed specifically for the dentists and orthodontists who want to broaden their scope of practice.  It will review the rationale behind "airway thinking", items to add to your patient assessment, the variety of approaches for intercepting airway problems along a complete timeline of ages and stages, and a demonstration of some of these techniques.

Featuring: Dr. Rick Roblee, will talk about the approach to adult patients that need more tongue and airway space utilizing advanced SFOT techniques, aligners, and compressed treatment times.

Additionally, guest lecturer, Dr. Mark Cruz, my co-teacher of the Airway Mini-Residency, will address the significance of airway flow limitation in the comprehensive practice including its effects on dental trauma, restorative design, TMJ function, sleep, and stress-driven comorbidities.

There are 16 AGD credits offered for this course.

The Raphael Center for Integrative Education: It is our goal to treat the cause of crooked teeth by promoting healthy breathing, posture, nutrition and sleep habits. In doing so, orthodontics becomes a health service rather than just an esthetic service.
